Moray Celebrant: Your Story, Told with Heart, Professional Care, And A Hint Of Scottish Wit

Legally authorised wedding celebrant in Scotland, crafting unique ceremonies across Moray, the Highlands, Speyside and Aberdeenshire. Professional, inclusive of all beliefs and backgrounds, and never boring.

No scripts. No templates. Just something that feels like you.

As a legally authorised and inclusive wedding celebrant with Open Beliefs Scotland, I have the privilege of making your marriage official on the day – exactly where and how you want it.

You’ll still apply through the local registrar office, as every couple marrying in Scotland does, but everything else can happen in one ceremony, in a way that feels right for you.

I’ve been a celebrant since 2012 and have led over 2,500 ceremonies. So, while this may all feel new to you, you’ll be guided through it with calm, clarity and experience from the very beginning. You don’t need to have it all figured out yet – that’s something we’ll work through together.

There’s no set format. No fixed way it has to be done. As an agnostic celebrant, I dont follow a fixed structure or belief system. Your ceremony can be non-religious, religious, spiritual – or somewhere in between.

What matters is that it reflects you. Your values, your beliefs, and what feels right.

Some couples come to me thinking they want a humanist-style ceremony. What theyre usually looking for is something personal, relaxed and centred around their story, which is exactly what I create – just without the rulebook.

  • Some are simple.
  • Some include laughter.
  • Some include dogs or children who ignore all instructions.

No two ceremonies are ever the same.

Meet Your Celebrant

Hi, I’m Laura. Lover of tea, biscuits, animals, and a bit of peace and quiet.

I’ve been a celebrant since 2012 and have led over 2,500 ceremonies, so you’re in experienced hands from the very beginning.

I live in Moray with my family and a slightly chaotic mix of dogs, cats, chickens and fish. Life is busy, full, and never dull, which probably explains why I love what I do.

I work across Moray, Speyside, the Highlands and Aberdeenshire, creating ceremonies that feel relaxed, natural and genuinely like you.

No scripts. No copy and paste. Nothing awkward.

Just something that fits.

If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I think we’ll get on just fine.

A ceremony that feels like part of your day, not something separate from it.

Questions couples often ask

Are you legally authorised to marry us in Scotland?

Yes. As a registered celebrant with Open Beliefs Scotland, I am fully authorised by the Registrar General to solemnise marriages. This means I can conduct your legal ceremony and help you sign the Marriage Schedule on the day, making your marriage official anywhere in Scotland.

Yes. Regardless of your officiant, every couple marrying in Scotland must submit their “Marriage Notice” (M10) forms to the registrar’s office in the district where the wedding is taking place. This must be done between 90 days and 29 days before the wedding. I will provide clear, professional guidance on exactly how and when to do this so nothing is left to chance.

I’m an inclusive, agnostic celebrant with Open Beliefs Scotland. Many couples come to me looking for a “Humanist-style” ceremony – meaning something personal, relaxed, centred on their story, and often non-religious. That’s exactly what I create, just without the restrictions. Your ceremony can be non-religious, religious, spiritual, or somewhere in between.

Absolutely. Unlike some other organisations, Open Beliefs Scotland is an inclusive, agnostic and open belief group, so as a celebrant it means I have no restrictions. Your ceremony can be entirely secular (non-religious), or we can include a prayer, a hymn, a blessing or spiritual reading if that feels right for you. It is your day, and your beliefs – whatever they may be – are respected.

While I am based in Moray, I regularly travel across Speyside, the Highlands, and Aberdeenshire. I am happy to travel further afield across Scotland for the right ceremony – just get in touch to discuss your location and timings.

This is a vital question for any couple. Because I am a celebrant with Open Beliefs Scotland, we have a network of authorised celebrants. In the highly unlikely event that I cannot attend, a qualified colleague would be briefed and ready to step in, ensuring your legal paperwork and ceremony proceed exactly as planned.

I have been a celebrant since 2012 and have had the privilege of leading over 2,500 ceremonies. From large ceremonies to quiet “just-the-two-of-us” elopements on a windswept hill, I have seen it all. This experience means I can handle any last-minute changes with calm, professional care.

Not on my watch. While we handle the legal “must-haves” with total professional care, the rest of the ceremony is about you. No drone-on scripts, no dusty templates, and definitely no falling asleep in the back row. We’ll aim for heartfelt, personal, and just the right amount of laughter.

We’re in Moray, the Highlands, Speyside, and Aberdeenshire – if we waited for guaranteed sunshine, nobody would ever get married! I always recommend a “Plan B” (and maybe some sturdy boots and a big coat), but a bit of drizzle and mist only adds to the atmosphere. I’ll bring the calm and the professional experience; you just bring the smiles (and maybe a nice umbrella).

Absolutely. I’ve led over 2,500 ceremonies, and some of my favourite guests have had four legs or very short legs. Whether they are ring-bearers or just there to ignore all instructions, they are part of your story, so they are more than welcome at the ceremony.

Completely. This might be your first time doing this, but it’s my 2,501st. I’ll guide you through the legalities, the vows, and the “what-happens-next” with total clarity. You don’t need to have it all figured out yet – that’s what we’ll work through together.

The first step is to check my availability for your date. If I’m free, we’ll have an initial no-pressure chat to see if we’re the right fit for each other. Once you’re happy to proceed, a booking fee retainer secures your date, and we begin the exciting process of crafting your ceremony.
